Dafna Nimkovsky’s aesthetic is all about authentic beauty in design - one that is neither historic nor current.
“My view on life has always been romanticised and this is something that I carry through into my designs,” says Dafna who has just graduated from AUT this year.
Dafna works with an amalgamation of precise techniques, including soft tailoring combined with more experimental ways of working.
Her graduate collection Spitalfields takes inspiration from the work of photographer Horace Warner whose compelling imagery of late Victorian children provides a raw, un-staged reality of children in poverty, which had never been captured in photography before that period.
