The iD Emerging Designer Awards is one of the most prestigious events showcasing global fashion talent in the Southern hemisphere.
Forty-six emerging designers have been announced to show at the event and hail from as far afield as Peru, U.S.A, Europe and across Asia, all competing for top prizes in this year’s prestigious iD International Emerging Designer Shows.
The finalists have been selected from a record 200 entries and will travel to Dunedin from their home countries to be judged by an international panel of experts at the new look iD International Emerging Show, supported by the Otago Polytechnic.
“As Australasia’s only international emerging fashion competition, designers from the top fashion schools around the world are eager to come to Dunedin to network and to launch their collections on a global platform,” says Dr Margo Barton, Professor of Fashion and iD Dunedin Fashion Creative Director.
This year’s pool of talent sees a diverse cultural mix with designers exploring their unique personal identities through their work.
An event not to be missed the Emerging Designer Awards will be the focus for this year’s reinvigorated iD Dunedin Fashion event. Held over two nights at the Dunedin Town Hall, the emerging designer showcase will be presented on a multi-level runway to allow for additional front row seats and allow the audience a closer view of the garments.
Top Kiwi fashion designers Tanya Carlson, Benny Castles (WORLD), and Margi Robertson (NOM*d) head the judging panel and this year noted the exceptional standard of entries from around the world.
iD Dunedin Fashion Week is held from May 2-6 and funded by the Dunedin City Council.
